A leather satchel is the most versatile bag a man can own: big enough for a tablet, wallet, keys and sunglasses, small enough to wear all day. Here's our guide to Cobb & Co men's satchels, messenger bags and casual crossbodies, including our best-selling north-south styles.
The satchels: Notting, Kooyong and Richmond
All three are flap-over satchels in textured full-grain leather with RFID-protected pockets and an adjustable 100–110 cm strap for shoulder or crossbody wear. Each comes in a JR size ($169) and a Large ($219).

Which satchel is right for you?
- Want a slim, upright bag? Choose a north-south style: the Kooyong JR or Notting JR. It sits flat against your side and carries a tablet upright.
- Travel a lot? The Notting Large expands from 3 to 7 cm deep when you need extra room for a jumper or chargers.
- Like colour? Richmond comes in black, chocolate, cognac, navy and olive.
Why choose an RFID-safe bag?
Notting, Kooyong, Richmond and the Windsor business satchel belong to our Cobb & Co LT range of RFID-safe bags. Each has pockets lined with an RFID-blocking layer that helps stop the chips in contactless cards and passports being read wirelessly without your knowledge.
- One bag, fully protected. Keep cards and your passport in the RFID pocket and you don't need a separate RFID wallet.
- Made for travel. Ideal in airports, on public transport and in crowded places, where you carry your passport and cards together.
- Invisible protection. The shielding sits inside the lining, so the bag looks like a classic leather satchel.
- Everyday security. Flap-over closures and secure zip pockets keep valuables in place.
The LT satchels suit women too, and so does our Mimi smartphone RFID wallet crossbody. Learn more in our RFID FAQ or shop all RFID-safe bags.

Quick answers
What is a north-south bag?
A north-south bag is taller than it is wide. It sits neatly against your side and suits a tablet, notebook or documents carried upright. Our Kooyong (30.5 × 26 cm and 25 × 22 cm) and Notting JR (25.5 × 21 cm) are north-south styles.
What's the difference between Notting, Kooyong and Richmond?
All three are flap-over RFID leather satchels with an adjustable strap. Notting has an expandable gusset that grows from 3 to 7 cm deep. Kooyong is a taller north-south shape. Richmond is a square shape and the slimmest of the three in the JR size.
Will a satchel fit an iPad or laptop?
All the JR sizes fit an iPad. The Notting Large (29 × 29 cm) fits an iPad and a small laptop, and the Kooyong Large fits a tablet or small laptop. For a full-size laptop, see our work bag guide.
Are these satchels RFID protected?
Yes. Notting, Kooyong and Richmond all have RFID-protected pockets to help protect your cards and passport from wireless skimming.
